Building Confident Divers, one course at a time

Hi, my name is Georg Sattler.

Diving is more than a passion — it’s my profession.

I believe diver education should be thoughtful, thorough, and focused on long-term skills, not just quick results. Whether it's teaching foundational skills or advancing into technical environments, my goal is always the same: to create divers who are safe, competent, and capable of thinking for themselves and their team underwater.

I’m a certified instructor for both recreational and technical diving, currently affiliated with SSI. My training includes a wide range of XR courses, and I bring a strong focus on quality, structure, and safety to every course I deliver. I’m particularly interested in working with dive centres that prioritise proper training over shortcuts, and I’m actively looking to expand my work within the technical diving space.

While many come into this industry chasing the lifestyle, I chose this path because I care about doing the job right. I take pride in building divers who are not only capable in the water, but also confident in their decisions and reliable as thinking team members — whether they’re putting on scuba gear for the first time or preparing for staged decompression.

Before becoming an instructor, I spent over a decade in senior IT management roles, leading teams and delivering complex projects across industries.

That experience taught me how to communicate clearly, stay organised under pressure, and lead by example — all skills I bring into the classroom and underwater. It also means I’m comfortable with marketing, operations, and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a dive centre running smoothly.

Originally from Austria, I’m a native German speaker, fluent in English, and conversational in Spanish. I’ve worked in the Canary Islands, where I’ve focused on teaching and guiding divers across a range of levels — from entry-level to advanced and technical diving.

I’m known for being reliable, hard-working, and structured. I believe good teaching is about more than ticking boxes — it’s about shaping divers who are calm, aware, and well-prepared. Whether I’m in the water or behind the scenes, I approach my work with professionalism and the mindset of someone who’s here to do the job right.

Working Experience

SSI Open Water Instructor, Punta Amanay

February 2024 - present, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands

This role marked a key step in my development as an instructor, allowing me to take on greater responsibility in teaching a wide range of divers — from entry-level to XR — and contribute meaningfully to student progression and course planning.
  • 200+ certifications (training dives, entry-levels, specialties, professional programs, XR)
  • Guided boat dives, including in challenging conditions (low visibility, strong currents)
  • Compressor handling, basic Bauer maintenance, gas blending

Dive Master, GooDiving

September 2023 - February 2024, Tenerife, Canary Islands

This role allowed me to gain hands-on experience guiding certified divers in challenging environments and strengthened my confidence in managing dive logistics and equipment preparation.
  • Focused primarily on guiding certified divers on boat and shore dives
  • Regularly worked in challenging conditions (strong currents, low visibility)
  • Handled gas blending (EANX, Trimix)
  • Performed compressor handling and basic equipment maintenance

Senior IT Manager, various companies

June 2009 - September 2023

This background provided a strong foundation in leadership, organisation, and structured thinking — all of which I apply daily as a diving instructor, both in and out of the water.

  • Over a decade leading engineering teams and building reliable digital systems
  • Managed and supported 40+ person teams through agile and scalable practices
  • Held senior leadership roles (CTO, Head of Engineering), guiding growth and transformation

Why work with me

I take diving seriously — not just as a passion, but as a profession. My focus is on quality training, solid foundational skills, and building divers who are not only competent, but calm, aware, and able to contribute meaningfully to a team.

Here’s what I bring to a dive centre:

  • Reliable, structured, and focused on quality. I don’t take shortcuts. I deliver consistent instruction that meets standards — and often exceeds them.

  • Strong instructional mindset. Whether entry-level or XR, I aim to build confident, independent, and thinking divers.

  • Technical background. With over a decade in IT leadership, I bring strong skills in organisation, communication, and digital tools — including operations, marketing, and systems thinking.

  • Operational support. I’m hands-on with compressors, gas blending (Trimix, EANX), and gear maintenance.

  • Motivated to grow further in technical diving. I hold full XR teaching qualifications and am actively looking to develop in centres that prioritise proper training.

If your team values professionalism, structure, and long-term thinking — we’ll probably get along well.

Underwater life

A few snapshots of me doing what I love — and do well.

Whether teaching skills in confined water, guiding dives in strong currents, or demonstrating trim and buoyancy in side-mount or twinset, I believe that how we show up underwater matters.

Why train with me

I believe good instruction is about more than just meeting standards — it’s about helping you become a diver who’s calm, aware, and able to think clearly underwater.

Whether it’s your first time with scuba gear or you're starting your technical diving journey, I focus on:

  • Foundational skills that last — not quick fixes

  • Clear communication, personal feedback, and a structured progression

  • Building confidence and independence, so you can dive safely and responsibly — for yourself and your team

If you care about doing things properly, you’ll feel at home in my courses.
